IEM Season IX kicked off last Wednesday with the group stages. There are a good mix of races in this years competition, well game races, it is still pretty much all Koreans. Half of the group matches have been played but you can still catch San, Life, forGG, Soulkey, Maru, Parting, Hydra, and True fight through their groups. Big God, EHOME, CDEC, and Tongfu are the teams that moved on from the asian qualifiers of the DOTA 2 Asia Championships. The main tournament will start today, so if you want to watch; head over to StarLadder1 or BTS TV for rebroadcasts.
The Esportal Winter 2014 is still in progress as mYinsanity joins Hellraisers and Empire as they move farther into the tournament. 5 more qualifiers will have to be played out before the tournament’s conclusion in March.

The ESL Legendary series is under way. Currently they are in the 7th week of Match Days. For those of you who don’t know, for 8 weeks players face off in tournaments to gain points. The top 4 players based on points, and the winners of the #5, #6, #7, and #8 weeks move on. Darkwonyx and Magicamy won week 5 and 6 respectively, so they will be moving on. Week 7 will be played the day this is posted.

StarLadder is in the midst of its group matches as of this podcast. Ninjas in Pajamas and Dignitas have moved on from Group A and Virtus Pro and Hellraisers from Group B. Group C, which consits of Navi, Titan, x6tence, and dAT will be played next week from the 27th-29th. While Group D, LDLC, fnatic, unu.AiN, and Gplay have not had their matches scheduled yet.
The Winter X games are happening again this year, but this time there is a brand new sport to be added to this years schedule. Yep that is right, ESPN and MLG have teamed up to bring a Counter-Strike GO tournament into the Aspen X games this year. 1st place will be receiving $25,000, a modest but even sum for an esports tournament. The teams that are going to be showing esports off at the X Games will be Cloud9, Dignitas, Ninja’s in Pajamas, and KaBuM in Group A, while in Group B we have CLG, LDLC, fnatic, and Team Liquid.
